A collagraph is a relief plate that is made from cardboard or
thin wood that has objects,
glue, paper, thin cardboard or any other medium that
can be glued to the surface of the
plate to create an image. The plate is then
sealed with several coats of glue and polyurethane.
Next the plate is inked and
wiped by hand, the
paper is placed on top of it and both are run
through a printing press. Each
handmade print, created entirely by the artist is unique and
considered an
original work of art.
